Chapter Advisor
Dr. Ian Morton
Dr. Ian Morton is a proud Golden Eagle alum and member of the 2015 SLP MA cohort at CSULA. He enjoys discussing complex syntax, phonology, interesting books, and college basketball. Most of the time, you can find Dr. Morton in his office (KH B106B) drinking too much coffee.

Dr. Ellis
Dr. Ellis completed her B.A. at San Diego State University and her clinical work as well as her Ph.D. in Language and Communicative Disorders at San Diego State University & University of California, San Diego. Dr. Ellis is clinically certified and licensed in Speech Language Pathology. Her research interests focus on lexical and cognitive processing skills in early language delay, specifically word learning and vocabulary knowledge in children who are late talkers. Additional areas of interest include parent and caregiver coaching, clincal education and supporting underrepresented student pathways to the field of CSD.

Hello, my name is Julia and I am honored to serve as one of the Co-Presidents for NSSLHA! I earned my B.A. in Communicative Disorders here at Cal State LA and am now in my Masters Program to becoming an SLP. Aside from school I love to read, run, go for long walks, and hang out with my fur babies during my free time. I’m so excited to help lead this community and look forward to connecting with others as we’re embarking on the journey of becoming SLPs.

I graduated from USC in May with a degree in Health and Human Sciences. I am excited to get to know the CSULA COMD community more through NSSHLA. Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Pegg, and I’m excited to serve as your 2026 CSULA NSSLHA Co-Treasurer! I recently graduated from Cal State LA with my bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders, with interests in school-based speech therapy and early intervention. A fun fact about me is that I spent my first 2 1/2 years of college preparing to become a pediatric dentist before realizing that speech-language pathology was my true passion. Outside of school, I’m a professional nanny and pet sitter (6 years and counting!) and a proud dog mom to a golden retriever named Ivy. Leah is a second year post-bacc student in the COMD department, returning to school after a 20+ year career as a professional flutist and composer. She is also the founder of early childhood music program Sweet Potato Music, is a mom to a third grader named Marni, and enjoys baking and reading.

Hsu-Wei is a second year post-bacc student and NSSHLA rep. After 15 plus years in digital marketing, she is excited for the opportunity to pursue a career that aligns with her deepening interest in communication disorders and language development.
