Co-Newsletter
Alan Acevedo
I’m a 1st year grad student at CSULA and one of the Co-Newsletter reps. I started all this COMD madness at the University of Houston but I am originally from Los Angeles (SELA to be exact). I got my B.A in communicative disorders from CSULA and decided to stay here for my master’s. My interests include bilingualism, literacy, and language disorders. I'm also the Undergraduate Rep for the Hispanic Caucus of ASHA. I hope to be able to work abroad one day and collaborate with speech therapists in other countries. I am committed to increasing the number of bilingual SLPs and SLPAs across the nation. A fun fact about me is that I collect CDs (I have around 300) and I'm a huge soccer fan. I went to every LA Galaxy playoff game last November/December. I even lost my voice, twice! Feel free to reach out for anything.

Post-Baccalaureate Representative
Hsu-Wei Chow
Hello, my name is Hsu-Wei and I'm a first-year post-bacc student in the COMD program. I decided to return to school after working in digital media for 15 years. I was inspired to make a change after receiving transformative knowledge and support from the Regional Center. Not only did my child significantly improve but I realized how much I wanted to work and contribute in this field. I attribute this realization to the excellent case workers, speech therapists, and infant specialists that I worked with throughout this journey. I’m looking forward to my time with NSSHLA.

Post-Baccalaureate Representative
Cristina Munoz
Hi, my name is Cristina Muñoz, and I’m a second-year post-bacc student in the COMD program. I received my undergraduate degree in biology at Arizona State University. I originally wanted to pursue veterinary medicine, but was informed there is more euthanizing than saving. I came across speech-language pathology while I was browsing Google and deciding what to pursue instead. After shadowing a couple of SLPs, I knew this field would keep me engaged. I also love how inclusive it is. A fun fact about me is that I am currently a pet sitter on Rover. I love both cats and dogs! Lastly, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I hope everyone’s semester isn’t too stressful and you treat yourself well when you put your best foot forward!
